Pandit Purnanand Tiwari Government Degree College was established in the year 2005. The college offers bachelor’s programme with combinations in seven disciplines including Hindi, English, Political Science, sociology, economics, psychology and history, The college was initially operating in the building of Dungar Singh Bisht Government Inter College, Tandi, Pokhrar. The college was shifted to the new building on 28 March 2021 and on 7th April 2021 the college was officially inaugurated by the Higher Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat. The building is located at Doshapani, 7 kms from the beautiful place of Mukteshwar. The college has three smart classes and a well equipped conference room with a seating capacity of 100 people at a time. This helps in meeting the learning needs of undergraduates through innovative learning, personalized attention and emphasis on undergraduate research and active learning. The college library houses both reference and course books with encyclopedias, magazines and books related to competition preparations for both national and state level competitive exams.
Apart from education and learning, the college also emphasizes on all round development of students by engaging them in various extra curricular activities like NSS, Ranger and Rovers, Sports etc. Camps and social activities under NSS motivate students to actively participate in community activities related to creating awareness on blood donation, cleanliness, sports activities, AIDS, Human rights etc. Various ports activities are carried out at college, state and national level and a separate room has been made as Gym room to encourage students to remain fit and healthy because a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.
